The Art of Relationship Marketing through Online Social Networking Platforms
1. Lets start with why a PerfectNetworker would invite someone to be more successful. Well an invite to the site abundant with networkers is an act of contribution. You should invite networkers you know to be professional whether through first hand experience or from their reputation.
2. Welcome anyone and everyone when they enter the site, how can you assess who is a good contact or who is not. How do you feel when you are made to feel welcome?
3. Those that respond are more apt to understand the principles of networking, which is communication and contribution.
4. Always put the ball in their court. This is a commitment. Conversation should remain light but sincere with nothing being sold, and only an offer to help should be your sincere stance.
5. At some point through birthdays, weekly contact, etc. there should be enough rapport that you will either be welcome to share what you are looking for or more than likely they reciprocate the offer to contribute to you. I find this is about a 3 month time period. Many do not have the patience or determination, but I assure you the reward is worth the wait.
6. Read the Go-Giver, it really is about being a sincere contributor to others success. As Zig Ziglar says help enough people achieve their dreams and your dreams will be achieved as well. Or maybe it was, "If you want to achieve your dreams, help others achieve theirs". You get the idea.
7. Learn about the people you wish to do business with, and the acceptance of this friendship will return dividends to you because people like to refer people the trust and like (Bob Burg).
8. Remember birthdays and take a moment to wish random "Perfect days" to those you have lost touch with.
9. Meet for a one on one or a phone call when the rapport dictates you would be welcome and trusted to contribute to them. The rest really takes place rather naturally.
10. Dont worry about stats, effort, or those that dont reciprocate... dont keep count, just have fun helping others and that will be fun by itself.
FYI - I invite about 20 people a day to PerfectNetworker.com of which only about 2 join... is it worth it? For the relationship and contribution I just made to those 2 people - ABSOLUTELY! And for the amount of people I am doing business with on this site, I really dont need to go anywhere else for business ... or business needs.

We have recently changed the name to PerfectNetworker of THE day, since they are synonomous for contributing to others success. Here are some criteria we find important upon selection.
1. That you have a photo. Who can connect with a ghost? Although a logo is better than no photo, but we have only chosen 1 logo out of 40 PerfectNetworkers and that was only because his logo stated his cause for Earth Conservation. Let me know if you need help uploading your photo.
2. That you have been recommended by someone as a contributor to others success.
3. Expand the section "About me". To feature someone with little content, does not really give us or the reader an idea of what makes you so worthy of this honor.
4. That you are at least active enough on the site that you have some connections and your last sign in date is less than 1 week from the current date.
5. It would be nice if your ranking is not N/A (meaning you have not referred anyone to the site), but this is not a requirement.
6. Some sense of consistency, typically more than a month of noticing you are not just a "Go-Giver of THE Day", but a "Go-Giver" who is being recognized one day.
7. With that said, there is no limit to how many times you are featured. Continue to be a "Go-Giver" and continue to be recognized.
8. Please post your email address so I can send you a notification, otherwise I have to go through websites, to find an email address.
9. Post articles, blogs, polls, etc.

"Why is everyone always pickin on me?" or "Why are people trying to connect with me?" or "Why are people trying to learn about me and trying to do business with me?"
Have you ever considered that everyone of your friends was once a stranger?... and that everyone of your clients were unknown to you until they were introduced to you?...
Im sure you wouldnt watch your phone ring at work without answering it, or not be tempted to open a letter from a friend wishing to do business with you... or watch a fax transmission come through and fall into the trash can without checking out the contents.
Some people new to social networking may think it is ... well a waste of time. I assure you when it is done right, it is very rewarding, very efficient, and the Perfect way to meet people. In fact how else could you meet people that dont live in your geographic area so effortlessly? When you create that relationship focusing on contribution, they too will want to learn from you and help refer business to you.
If you are trying to connect with someone and they dont know how to add you as a connection. Let them know they can go to "Connections", click on "Connection Requests" and approve away. Thank the person for trying to connect with you... after all they are interested in knowing you better.
Believe it or not, many sites penalize you for trying to meet strangers. We value relationship marketing and encourage you to reach out to other professionals to develop a business relationship.
Let them know "You have several people trying to connect with you... and I am one of them."
Inactive people in our community, are possibly unaware of the opportunities that are available.
Please visit the site and respond to people who wish to learn more about you and your business. And while you are at it, say "Hi" to someone like the Go-Giver of the day.
I am doing business almost daily with PerfectNetworkers, you can too!

According to our community, it is a pleasant difference, but I really wouldnt want to indicate that it was a choice as much as perhaps a preference. For me, choosing between LI and PN is like choosing between a screwdriver and a hammer. I wont go into which is the screwdriver, but rather that they are both tools and you really should have both in your networking toolbox.
Linkedin is gigantic and resourceful. I am on LI, and although I dont find the experience terribly welcoming, I must give props to this site for connecting me with thousands of high quality networkers. LI has amazing features and it is a great place to reconnect as well. LI has group limitations, and connection limitations, and from my experience they do not respond to customer feedback or requests in a timely manner. I certainly have never been acknowledged for the over 5000 networkers I invited to LI... instead my account was repeatedly restricted for ... trying to network with ... (are you ready for this?) a person I wanted to do business with, but unfortunately didnt know at the time of my invitation request. How absurd it was for me to think of networking on a "recruiting" site.
PerfectNetworker based on the feedback we receive daily, a very cozy site with a high quality small community. The customer service and attention you receive here seems to be at an extraordinary level based again on the many compliments we receive. Our Referral University and educational component on PN is really user friendly. We encourage people to contribute articles, blogs, and information on how to be more successful in creating business relationships, getting the most out of social networking and being a Go-Giver. We feature networkers who make a difference in the community.
Soon we will be the only social networking site that has a face-to-face component to the online experience. Chuck Z will be an integral part of this being a success. PerfectNetworker Face-to-Face will take the online (virtual) relationship marketing and bring it to life.
PN has no limitations. You can join as many groups as you want. You can message people regardless of being connected. There is a more personal approach to the profile and I find having more contact information available makes it easier to connect and do business with people I want to work with.
As the site grows, I believe that the sophistication of LI will be more available here, without losing the human spirit we care so much about keeping.
We are looking for the top networkers in the world, so real business and conversations can happen. When you read the profiles of the networkers on this site, you see we are not after a body count, but really looking for the PerfectNetworker.

"It is Always Your Next Move", "The Ball is in Your Court"... One of my favorite philosophies is that "I am responsible ..." you can fill in the blank after that. When I want to create a relationship, "I am responsible" for the quality of that relationship. When I want to connect with someone, "I am responsible" for creating that connection. So when someone does not respond to my connection request, I email them directly. When they dont respond to that, or they dont have an email address, I visit their website and email or message them there. And if I have to resort to a friendly phone call, I do that too.
Does it make a difference? You tell me. When someone whose persistence to connect with you professionally, (and) for networking reasons, gives three attempts, wouldnt you take notice of this person/networker? Of course, your reason to connect must be genuine, and you really should have something to offer the person you are trying to connect with, whether it be a lead, business or knowledge. I have accepted to date on this site at least a couple dozen calls from "Go-Givers". Just networkers, who want to learn more about my business, and want to grow together. Certainly a call anyone would welcome, if they want to cultivate business.
My recommendation is to go into your connections requests and pick 2 or 3 a day that you email directly, or visit their website and leave a message that you are trying to connect. It doesnt take long and it really shows that this community is about creating business / referral relationships.
The difference this makes is that a section of our community that may feel ignored or becomes dormant is awakened with opportunity.
So Make Some Noise and look up networkers on the site in your state or country that have not connected with you, and throw the ball in their court with a friendly message to connect. If you invited someone that hasnt set up a photo or been back to the site, let them know they have "Connection Requests" awaiting them. I know they do since this community is very active in connecting.
I dont think Chevy Chase was referring to this when he said "Be The Ball" in "Caddyshack". But I really couldnt resist using that quote. So I now place the ball in your court to reach out to those who have low to no connections, those that could use a boost in feeling a part of this community.

I find it interesting that we underestimate the power of one. This is why I never underestimate anyone. PerfectNetworker is being considered by many to be special in that the members are very professional and high caliber. They better understand relationship marketing and follow the philosophy of "The Go-Giver" and "Pay It Forward".
I would like the focus of our community to connect. If you are trying to connect with someone on the site and they have not responded, please copy / paste their email address and write them directly. Let them know that you are desiring a connection. My belief is that although the members on this site are quality networkers, not everyone is aware of the growth this community is experiencing. Think of the person who only joined 2 months ago... the community was literally 1/10th as large as it is now. How would they know so many people are awaiting connection if they do not have the box on their profile checked for letting them know people are trying to connect. If you invited someone and they are unaware, inactive please give them some encouragement to revisit the site. I find the networkers on the site that are active are creating real relationships where either direct or indirect connections are occurring. If you see a profile without a photo, see if they need help, perhaps their photo file is too large. I personally can help them reduce the file size if they send me their photo.
"The Power of One" a great movie that came out in 1992 with Morgan Freeman, Stephen Dorff and John Gielgud has always been a powerful inspiration of what anyone of us can do to make the world better. For this community to enjoy the benefits or rich relationships and quality referrals, we must be pro-active in order to experience what we put out in the universe.
The Chinese Taoism "Wu Wei" certainly correlates to this message. "The aim of wu wei is to achieve a state of perfect equilibrium, or alignment with the Tao, and, as a result, obtain an irresistible form of soft and invisible power". Feel free to contact him for more wisdom here and with Guerrilla Marketing. This message moved me (as did the film and the following quote) to address what we are capable of individually and as a community.
"Be the change that you want to see in the world." - Mohandas Gandhi One contribution to help one person in the community helps thousands each day if we are all doing this for the greater experience we wish to have on this site. One connection a day = 365 seeds towards 365 relationships a year. One profile read in 5 minutes each day with something kind to them will make one persons day! Be the Power of One!

So next time you see a unsolicited "spam" communication, smile while you hit delete and have a Perfect day.
Spammers dont kill people, people kill people... wait that is another campaign... however we sure do act like they do. Ive never understood why people get so annoyed about spammers. I certainly understand that they are very annoying, but I am not going to let them one or two spammers have the power of who I will communicate with and who I wont. And I certainly will not let them have the power to change my mood from Perfectly happy to a mood of gloom and doom.
Here is the cost of hiding from spammers - You hide from the world, the people who are your next friends and clients in business. That cost is too great for me, so I put myself out there. Check out my profile - all vitals are there, birthday, cell phone, email, etc. There is a way to get to know me and contact me here at Perfect Networker and all the other social sites I belong to.
Really it is like refusing to drive your car because a spammer might be on the road, or that a spammer will attach your windshield with a business card or flier while you park your car at a concert or grocery store in hopes of developing a quality relationship.
I can safely say that about 50% of network would not exist if I did not play full out with sharing my cell phone, email and address. I can appreciate that women have valid concerns about privacy since stalking goes far beyond spamming... so ommitting your home address, home phone and home email would be prudent. As an alternative, create an email address that is used only for social networking. Have a cell phone with an our of state area code could create the privacy and security so that you feel comfortable.
We fortunately have a community of communicators on PN, but there will always be a bad apple or two in every bunch. Dont punish yourself from getting to know 98% of the community because of a couple of spammers that may not even know better.
We are here to learn together. My attempts to teach a spammer in this community that their strategy is pushing people away instead of attracting business, has proven to be rather effective. I dont pretend to know all the answers or think I can help everyone, but if you give everyone a chance, I have found I am typically pleasantly surprised.
I actually get joy out of receiving spam because I feel so much more productive when I group all the emails together and trash them all at once. A real sense of accomplishment! How about this marketing trick - hit reply and push your product or service on him or her. Who knows they may need your service.
Thank you Joyce (Nelson) for your help with the editing and your suggestions. I like the blog much more now.

Photos speak volumes and send an instant message to the person surfing profiles that you stand out and that you are a person they can relate to... or not.
It surprises me when all you really have are a few seconds to be noticed and some would not take advantage of posting a photo over a grey silhouette image (or "No Image Available") that looks identical to the other 35% of the non-photod networkers. Do yourself a favor and stand out. The only time you stand out without a photo is when everyone else has one. Do yourself another favor... keep your clothes on. The amount of people showing off their bodies in the social networking arena intentinoally or not are typically difficult to take serious with regard to business.
Say "Cheese" - yup a smile attracts communication. So if you see 100 profiles on a screen and 60 of them had photos, the other 40 disappear immediately from the attention of the surfer. Next of the 60, the surfer typically is looking for professionalism, attractiveness (as dictated typically by society for male and female potential contacts), and a sense of personality and friendliness.Ive heard figures as high as 40 times more attention is spent on profiles with photos than without.
So if you dont have a photo, make it a priority in social networking or you really are choosing to be a ghost.

In order to truly connect with someone, you must detach yourself from what you want and be completely in the space of either contribution or love.
I find the enrollment conversation to be the most powerful conversation one can experience. It is a conversation of having someone do something they would not have otherwise decided to do, but through listening to what they will gain through your ability to have them experince the benefits they accept what you have contributed to them. This requires you to remove what you will gain by them accepting the invitation and just being in a space of pure contribution.
One can only experience a high acceptance of this type of conversation when the person being enrolled is not pressured nor made to feel guilty if they reject your offer or invitation to contribute to them.
I am fascinated that in the end if you have allowed the person you are inviting to be right regardless of their action, that they may later want to accept because the pureness of the invitation is finally realized. This is why you should only invite people to Perfect Networker in a personal conversation or personalized email. They get that you are contributing to them when you are enrolling them into an opportunity.
When you have accomplished having an effective enrollment conversation, you truly have the power to shape the community and the world to be better.
