I started writing some quotes and thoughts on different networks and thought I better start putting it together so that I don't forget what I wrote... for the 2nd edition of "Becoming the Perfect Networker... My first blog teaser should have been called NOTworking. Okay, so I wrote a very meaningless blog on a very meaningful topic (especially to me). Did I lose my mind? Has my networking noggin stopped working? I hope not.
So why did I write something that was probably a waste of time to write and a waste of time to read?
Glad you asked. Because so many of us think we are networking when we go through the motions of going to an event, grabbing a business card, giving a business card, possibly even emailing someone after an event with an empty and meaningless email.
So my point is that if you are not successful networking, you probably are doing networking very much like my 1500 words on Networking chapter. I initially was writing the chapter as a humorous look at how we do an action but we don’t do the action with impact. Wouldn’t you agree if you met five or ten people at a networking event and actually connected with them in such a way after the event that you would really be networking?
Networking is not just going to events. It is not just passing cards. And it is not about you!
If you want to take networking to a level you perhaps have never experienced, I assure you this information is worth writing and reading and passing along.
Networking – the next 1500 words
The 7 C’s of Networking: Communicate, Capture, Communicate, Connect, Collaborate, Create, & Continue
First, prepare for your networking event, if you have a name badge that will make you stand you, then wear that instead of a label that doesn’t stick to your jacket.
Second, bring enough business cards that you can hand 2 cards to each person you meet so that the possibility of them connecting you in the future is possible.
COMMUNICATE… by listening and asking ‘perfect’ questions
When you meet someone at a networking event, don’t worry about your pitch, I assure you that it probably won’t be remembered, so work on your listening and if you need to take notes to help you remember, then by all means. The new iPhone has a microphone that allows you to dictate thoughts and actions you can later download on your iTunes to play and remind you what actions you can take to begin the networking process of building a relationship and referral source.
Ask questions that engage the other person so that you can truly learn how you can help them. Questions like:
“Share with me what you do.” “How did you get into this business?” “What social sites do you participate with? Facebook? LinkedIn? PerfectNetworker? Twitter?” “What is your target market?” “Tell me how I could help you” This should be enough information that you can make a difference in their life. That is part of what networking is about. If you are going to get something out of networking, start thinking about what you are going to give.
Always get two of their cards so that you can recommend them to someone you meet that evening at the event or later.
After you leave a networking event is when networking really begins. Consider the networking event the start line and when you leave the networking event, you are about to start the race much like a sprinter prepares their stance before the gun is fired signifying the beginning of the race.
CAPTURE… their data so you can begin and continue to communicate with them
When you return back to your home office or your office, it is time to sort your cards into two stacks. One that is for focused conversation and one that is secondary polite. The reason for the two stacks is that you don’t want to feel overwhelmed. Simply place the cards that you felt would be easiest to help succeed. Think of the conversations that were most memorable, the contacts most likely to return the favor when you contribute to them. The secondary stack we will get to in a moment.
Remember to label the stacks of business cards with a post-it identifying the date and event you met the new contacts. This is important because you want to focus for the next 7 days on developing this contact. The reason you have two sets of each card is so that you can work one stack and start recommending with the other stack.
COMMUNICATE… as soon as possible so that the ball is in their court
If you are short on time, it is important that you at least write the first stack and let them know you really enjoyed meeting them. Look or listen to your notes on that particular meeting, so that you can customize the message so that they see you as a sincere person, and are impressed with you listening skills and memory.
Now for the secondary stack, simply write them an email to demonstrate you are a serious networker by getting the communication going immediately after the event.
If you invite all our new connections to PerfectNetworker.com, your name will be memorialized on their profile as the contributor, thus making a memory stamp for every bit of success they experience on the site. Second you can let them know that they can be featured on the site by simply letting one of the ambassadors know they are ready to be spotlighted on the home page. All you need to have is a complete profile and photo to be considered for this complimentary publicity.
Although this is a little more expensive, I highly recommend writing a thank you note or use send out cards to stand out as someone that is serious about continuing the initial conversation from the networking event.
CONTRIBUTE… through virtual introductions
Look in your network for people that would be great to connect your new contact with and do a virtual introduction via email or on PerfectNetworker. It helps to explain in the email why you considered the connection valuable. Also, you may want to reach out via phone to explain that you are going to be making this virtual connection via email and to look out for the email you just sent.
CONNECT… with them where they like to communicate
Google the names of your new connections and when you find them on Facebook (FB), LinkedIn (LI), PerfectNetworker (PN), and or Twitter, send a connection request. It is important that you get into their virtual life if you want to get into their real life. The frequency and timing of your communication will catapult you from a status of stranger or someone they will not remember to a person they know and feel comfortable communicating with. The number you are trying to get to as quickly as is comfortable without being considered a stalker or a psycho is the frequency of 7.
So you meet them at a networking event - that is 1.
You email them after the networking event to let them know it was a pleasure to meet them and possibly invite them to PerfectNetworker with your link - that is 2.
You make a virtual connection for them as a contributor to their success - that is 3.
You google them and find them on FB, LI, and Twitter and connect with them – that is possibly 4, 5 and 6.
You wish them a Happy Birthday when their birthday reminder is sent to you on FB and you search for their birthday on PN.
COLLABORATE
You invite them to meet with you for a one-on-one to learn more about how you might be able to work together and help one another. When we work together with someone to create success, a synergy is formed a desire to win together and a bond is formed. Success minded individuals become more driven and inspired to succeed when they work with other success-minded individuals.
Try it… you will like it a lot more than working your way by yourself.
CREATE… a future
Stay in touch, keep the communication alive and a relationship will form. Remember that you create your future, your relationships, and your success. Since the ball is in your court, you must not wait for the other person to decide to communicate or contribute to you. That is your responsibility, and through this responsibility you have control to shape your life and your success.
CONTINUE… to do all the C’s, especially communication and contribution.
Continue to contribute even if you don’t see anything coming back to you. This isn’t about a short-term relationship. This is about you being a Perfect Networker. Your identity is contributor, you are thought of as a person that makes a positive difference, a person who cares, a person that leaves people in a better position after they meet you, a person that will go the distance… a professional networker.
CONCLUSION… only to this chapter
Many times when we meet someone at a networking event we believe that when we leave that our impact was so amazing that they will want to start sending clients to us right away. I hope you see that type of conclusion to a networking event is really very unrealistic.
There really is not a conclusion to networking, it is continuous set of actions and conversations leading to hopefully a referral source. So where most people leave the networking event thinking the networking is over, you are now equipped to actually start networking by applying the 7 C’s of networking
When you apply the 7 C’s of networking, you will see the benefits and look back and laugh at how what you called networking was really NOTworking.
Networking is about playing big, playing to win… and most of all playing together.

I was asked to provide some insights on networking in an upcoming book that I am excited to be a part of. We agreed that each chapter would be at least 1500 words in length, so I could not wait to get to work on this chapter. I am including my chapter in this blog in hopes that if I have missed anything on the subject of Networking, that it is brought to my attention before this book is released. As you know 1500 words is enough to cover most topics, but nonetheless a challenge. Allow me to formally introduce myself. My name is Ken Rochon, and I will be writing a chapter in this book. I was not formerly a writer, and I don't consider myself famous. I am a good writer and I will be writing this chapter about networking. Here is a little information on Networking. Networking is good and I mean really good. And networking is important. Furthermore, I like networking and so do other people that I have met when networking. I am almost done with my first 100 words, but not yet. I have only three more words… done. Now I have to write my second 100 words without using any material from the first paragraph. That will be challenging because the first paragraph had a lot of information I know really well like my name and information about my writing history. What can I write about that hasn’t already been covered? Well I suppose I can write about networking. I only have 40 more words that I have to write in this paragraph, so I don’t have a lot of time to go into networking at this point because the paragraph is coming to a close right now. This is actually not too difficult at least from the first 2 paragraphs. I already am about 10 percent done with this chapter if I am writing 2000 words. But I would prefer to eat, so I will only write 1500 words. I think this paragraph will be longer than the others because I can talk about how many children I have. I do not have children, but if I did, I would teach them about networking. Networking is like a box of chocolates, you never know who you are going to meet. The longer I am networking, the more fascinated I become with the topic of networking and its lifelong effects. In my adult life I have networked by reaching out to associations, groups, communities in order to better understand the realities of relationship building, marketing and even more if you can believe that. This was a huge paragraph compared to the first two. This one is actually so far over 100 words that I think I am going to go for a 200-word paragraph. Honestly, I didn’t expect this to happen, but I was having so much fun I lost track and next thing I knew I was typing this word here which just put me at over 200 words. The exact number of words I have typed already is 431 words counting this one right here. I have not covered networking entirely because I am saving some of the material for later in this chapter. Kind of a suspense business book if you will. I don’t want to build it up too much, but I think this could be one of the better paragraphs that I’ve written in for this chapter, even though this paragraph is very short at this point, I am going to make a nice segue from the previous paragraph on children to my parents. Here goes… My parents are my Mom and Dad. And they raised me. I was a very little person and they fed me and I grew, and grew, and grew. It was exciting, but it took a long time. Already this paragraph is taking my childhood to adulthood and I could stop here and it would be a great paragraph. So that I can get into the meat of this chapter, I will close this paragraph off very soon at 600 words, which is almost half way there. This paragraph is like the build up of the middle of the chapter. This is where a lot of readers pretend they are reading but are not. The reason why is that almost everything that needed to be said in this chapter was written in the first paragraph. We know this chapter is on networking, so big surprise, each paragraph is a redundant reiteration of how networking is important and how networking came to be and why we can’t live without networking. I actually should have made this point much earlier, because if most people don’t read the middle of a chapter then this was a waste to even write. So I am bringing this chapter to a close at 722 words. If you have previously read any books on networking that might help you understand what networking is and what it is not. The soul connection will sometimes be missing when you are networking. Don’t let that bother you. It is not important. That is more for lifelong relationships with someone you love. Networking is more, well actually less intimate. I started off with more because the correction gave me more words in this paragraph. It is a sneaky secret that most authors will make a point and then purposely admit it was a mistake to get more content into their paragraph, chapter or book. Depending on how much experience they have. Well if we haven’t celebrated yet, we are past the mid-way point. This was actually way more challenging than I expected. I did already write about my growing up correct? Well to make sure the point is clear, I will use a tactic of bringing some earlier information back into the story to tie this very nicely together. Growing up I did whatever I could to learn things. I was scared to death of dying because it seemed so final. I wasn’t a troublemaker and I wasn’t a police officer and I wasn’t even a doctor, but I was a good boy who liked to play soccer. Of course, I was not aware of this until I reached adulthood. This is going to be a shorter paragraph because I know we need to get to the networking part of this chapter quick. The reason I haven’t is because, as I said before, most people don’t read the middle paragraphs in a chapter. If you noticed I used a technique of explaining what I was not when I was a child and that gave me a word count on this paragraph of at least 8, maybe even 9 words more. This explanation further catapulted the word count to make this paragraph quite lengthy in fact probably the second or third longest paragraph in this chapter thus far. I would venture to guess the second longest just by looking at how many lines are present. My personal experiences of growing up were very personal to me. I will share some of the personal experiences that led me to networking. My studies and my work were huge parts of my life and so was playing around. In fact if you take my studies, my work and my playing around, that really monopolized my time. I ate meals too of course and I slept which took up probably 8 hours of my day. This paragraph is very short, and it really is not worth expanding on, so I am moving into the networking component now. I sincerely appreciate people who are experts at networking who have networked a long time. Painters have painted such an accurate painting of what networking is if that was the theme of their work. I like networking from a standpoint that you are meeting people, and learning about them and what not. Many books are out there on networking. They are not necessarily feel-good stories that romanticize networking as a fairy-tale answer to success but rather a business approach to cultivating business. The reality of networking is that it is here to stay. I have seen it here for some time and I don’t think we can even wish it away. It is a far cry from being a secret. I wouldn’t consider people that network members of a secret society. They are simply meeting people and learning more about them. Some people look at this as an opportunity to help others be more successful. Others just want to vomit on anyone they meet about what they do and why people should use their product or service. Do you notice I am writing some killer sentences? That is because everyone reads the end of a chapter. It is like the closer and if you have done your job right, they will smile and think what a great conclusion to this chapter and not really feel they missed anything in the middle. So without further ah-do (bless me), I will move on to the final chapter, the finale, and the pinnacle if you will of this chapter. And furthermore, we have examined every aspect of networking only to find it is an essential part of succeeding in business. After all, where would we be without our clients? As was mentioned in the middle of this chapter, without networking there is no business. We must look at every stranger as a future client waiting to be discovered, and nurtured into an extension of who you are. Then through their own network that they share your message as if they were you because your networking skills created a comfort zone that brought them back to memories of their childhood. And this is why … Hey, I am actually over 1500 words, so you get the point of how networking is the Mack Daddy of business.

Ever reflect on how you got where you are now? What connections you made that created certain opportunities. The friends for life that you initially met on a social network and a conversation led to an understanding which led to opportunities and friendship. We are all on PerfectNetworker because someone cared enough to share it with you. Some of us signed up and never returned, some of us visit sporadically and enjoy the site at their own pace and some of us are possibly a little addicted to this dynamic community. We are only about 450 professionals from being at a big milestone... the big 10,000 (5 digits of dynamic professionals) and I've noticed the more we share the site, the more enjoyable the energy and conversations and opportunities are. My request is that you try an experiment on contribution and invite someone every single day to the site for this month and see how it changes your life. The return I've had on contributing to others is so overwhelming it caused me to want to write a book on the subject. I am here because of the contributions Al Granger (the person who invited me to meet my partners) and so many of the Ambassadors for there unbelievable devotion to helping welcome and assist new members with questions and just being there. If you would like to be on the home page, let me know your profile is ready for the world to see. I am happy to contribute to your success on the site, after all your success here is our success in bringing value to a community worthy of an experience that is Perfect. One of my all time favorite quotes - "You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want" - Zig Ziglar Thanks for making a difference and being a stand for the betterment of our community through your contributions to others. "Becoming The Perfect Networker ... Succeeding One Connection at a Time" is coming out next month. Please send me a Networking Secret Tip you use to create opportunities and relationships. If you tip is used, I will give you credit and a link to your webiste on the book. I will be listing the Tips here that I receive.
Mac Cassity - Connector at PerfectNetworker.com Work on quality, not quantity - So many people feel like they had a successful networking event just because they met a bunch of people. Personally, I don’t care how many I met, as long as I had quality conversations with the ones I did meet. Bring business cards and write on them - Having business cards seems like a gimmee if you are at a networking event, but I can almost guarantee that at least one person in the crowd will have either forgotten theirs, or is out of them. That is crazy, UNLESS they get one from the other person and truly do follow up. Most promise to, few ever do. I like to write a fact or bit of info on the backs of cards I get so I remember tidbits of info after the event. Also, if someone doesn’t have a card, you can have them write some info on the back of one of yours. Focus the conversations on the OTHER person - Ask questions, learn more about them, when you are done, ask a few more. People LOVE to talk about themselves. If they turn the subject to you, answer, but then get back to them. This is so key in developing the relationship. They will naturally be attracted to you as your interest in them will be remembered favorably. How often do you fondly recall that person that only talked about themselves all night? Because you focus on listening, they will be more inclined to seek you at future events, and wanting to find out about what YOU do. FOLLOW UP! - What good is networking and getting business contact info if you aren’t going to use it? Most folks never do. They go to event after event and are always stuck in the rut of not having enough business. Follow up with the folks you meet and set up a time to grab coffee or lunch. Business will happen, as long as you take the time to establish the relationship properly.
Nicole Beus - Indy's Services and GM of PerfectImageNation.com / www.IndyES.net 1. Schedule time daily for networking. Whether you participate in an online professional networking site, Facebook, or other social media outlet - schedule 15 minutes a day to reach out to current contacts, meet someone new and update your status. 2. When you are at an event, make sure and meet someone new. When I go to baseball games or other events, I am constantly looking around me and more importantly listening to people. I almost always find a moment that I can introduce myself and have some common subject to talk about. The person you're talking to may not be a prospective client or vendor, but they might have a great connection to give you in the future.
Curtis Cole - Kent Door & Specialty When I'm out running errands (banking, groceries, etc), I always pick up business cards from corkboards, desks, etc. I send out invites to join PerfectNetworker to the email addresses I see on the cards. I give it a couple days to digest, then I follow up with a personal call to see if there are any questions and to mainly introduce myself and what I'm about. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Chris Doerr from Beltway Networking You have two types of networking - event and social. How can you combine the two? Place your social media profiles on your business cards. By doing so potential connections have your contact information and can follow you online.
Dale Furtwengler - Furtwengler & Associates, P.C. / 314-707-3771 http://www.furtwengler.com If you want to create a memory while networking define your ideal customer, not by demographics, but by the values they possess. Values elicit emotional reactions which create memory. It also makes it easier for those with whom you network to identify whether or not someone is a good referral to you. You'll end up with better referrals and waste less time with those who aren't a good fit for you. Dick Steiner - Dick Steiner Magician & Mentalist Get to a networking event 30 minutes early and study the names, titles and companies that will be there. Focus on the 3 or 4 you want to meet, and ask to be introduced to them either by the host or someone that knows them. It is ideal if the person knows you and the people you want to meet. This is using a 3rd party introduction method which typically creates instant credibility as well as a warm introduction.
From Vincent Wright - MyLinkingPowerForum.ning.com 1. N – Network – No network, no gain. Positively said: The better your network, the greater your gain. Networking is networking – online or off, entrepreneur or warehouse worker, doctor, lawyer, student, teacher, child, or grandparent – to advance from where you are to where you want to go, you need help and the best help you can get on earth is the hands of others. To get their hands, you need to network with them.
2. E – Energy – To network with people, you need to put some energy into your networking. Put twice as much energy into your networking as you want to get out of it. Energy makes you shine. If you don’t let your light shine, no one will notice you. If no one notices you, you can’t network. If you can’t network, you can’t get their hands. Show people that you and your light are present and available to help them GET MORE!
3. T – Thoughtfulness – THINK of others! There is no getting around the great importance of thinking of others. What good is a networker who doesn’t think of others? What do they need? When do they need it? Where do they need help? How much help do they need? What else do they need? If you can’t give them what they need at the time that they need it, what else can you give them instead? A referral? A lead? Guidance?
4. W – Work – Ok. So, you’ve done all the right things in growing your network. You’ve thought about people you know and the people they know, you’ve considered that people in networks want to connect with you, they want your energy, and you’ve started assembling your network. But, there’s still the most important thing to excel at: WORK. Your WORK must be EXCELLENT! (Not perfect. Just EXCELLENT! You’re networking because you can’t be perfect and because you want to be excellent in some area of your life.)
5. O – Organize – Organize your work, your network, and your networking. How can a network of people be sustained without it and you being organized? It can’t! Not for long, anyway. Organization is the key to reducing the stress of life. If you’re not organized, network with someone who can help you in this area, too.
6. R – Recruit – Very few people know what the word “recruit” actually means. But what it means is of TREMENDOUS value to you: “To nourish the core”. If you’re weak, stressed, empty, broke, un-centered, inexperienced, or aging, YOU MUST LEARN HOW TO RECRUIT PEOPLE TO HELP YOU!
7. K – Knowledge – Keep adding value to your knowledge by keeping your knowledge current, up to date. Who wants information that’s stale, disorganized, incomplete, ill-informed, or poorly formed. Read stuff. Learn stuff. Shape stuff. Share stuff with LOTS of other people in your NETWORK.

Use our new invite feature and share the site! First person to contribute to 300 professional networkers that sign up and list your name as the referrer will receive a $300 check. See home page opportunities for more details. The reason I share this, is that you will be very visible on the home page if you keep the lead or stay in the TOP 25. This is not as difficult as hitting a "Perfect" score in bowling or being a gladiator in a 300 movie. This is just what a Perfect Networker should be doing ... contributing to other's success!

We are very powerful in that we all have thoughts that lead us to be our identity. When we believe these thoughts, they transform us into who we believe we are for good or bad. "I am" is that powerful identity statement, and what follows is what we do to prove this identity statement to be correct. I've noticed that the biggest reason I don't exercise like I used to is that I do not equate my identity with 'athlete' anymore. And thus have removed the habits that validated that identity. Ever since I joined PerfectNetworker, I assumed that identity. I told myself "I am a/the Perfect Networker" and I defined a/the Perfect Networker from my business readings, and from my belief system. One of my strongest beliefs was the characteristic of 'contribution'. For when we contribute to others we are not only giving them a gift, but we are giving ourselves a gift as well. The gift of course is the satisfaction that we have made a difference, and the bonus for those of you who believe in karma is that it comes back to you... many times over. My recent awareness was that I considered the power of contribution to be something I could do daily, when in fact I could do it hourly. This has multiplied my impact and of course the rate at which I experience this karma effect. Needless to say, I had to share in this blog how powerful we are in hopes, that my blog contributes to each of us being more powerful with our thoughts, and our actions. Please take a moment today to thank the person who contributed to you either by writing a recommendation, or a quick note. I like the fact that this site acknowledges contribution by having the person who shared the site with you be a part of your proflie. My favorite quote now is "Be the Change in The World You Want to See" ~ Ghandi "I want to see a world that contributes to each others happiness, to each others success and to each others dreams" ~ Ken Rochon

"I am a member of over 20 different social sites... I am going crazy! And I am not getting value from doing this, so what should I do?" Evaluate which sites are meeting your business and/or personal goals and focus on them. I recommend focusing on only 3 or 4 social sites since time is a commodity we shouldn't waste. It is better to develop rich relationships on several social sites then to spread yourself so thin that no one ever gets to know you. Weed out the sites that give little to no return for your efforts (ROE - Return on Efforts). Stick with sites where the mission of the site or the community is like-minded with your goals and principles. Make your mark and consistently connect and communicate with 10 people a day on each of the social sites you decide to participate in... and don't stop. Be patient and persistent. Believe me, that 1 year ago when I started, I had no idea how valuable all these business relationships could be... especially in a down economy. Prioritize your time, so that you have 15 - 60 minutes a day (preferably before you go to work and after.. or during if you can). Consider this your 'social' networking work-out. Convert your 'social' networking contacts into your database and stay in touch offline. This is where the magic happens. Meet at least one person a week you feel comfortable with and want to start helping them with their business. Focus on them and I assure you that the business you want will naturally happen without any worries. I heard this in a movie once and it has never left me "Always be Kennecting! ALWAYS be Kennecting!! ALWAYS BE KENNECTING!!!"

The Art of Relationship Marketing through Online Social Networking Platforms
1. Lets start with why a PerfectNetworker would invite someone to be more successful. Well an invite to the site abundant with networkers is an act of contribution. You should invite networkers you know to be professional whether through first hand experience or from their reputation.
2. Welcome anyone and everyone when they enter the site, how can you assess who is a good contact or who is not. How do you feel when you are made to feel welcome?
3. Those that respond are more apt to understand the principles of networking, which is communication and contribution.
4. Always put the ball in their court. This is a commitment. Conversation should remain light but sincere with nothing being sold, and only an offer to help should be your sincere stance.
5. At some point through birthdays, weekly contact, etc. there should be enough rapport that you will either be welcome to share what you are looking for or more than likely they reciprocate the offer to contribute to you. I find this is about a 3 month time period. Many do not have the patience or determination, but I assure you the reward is worth the wait.
6. Read the Go-Giver, it really is about being a sincere contributor to others success. As Zig Ziglar says help enough people achieve their dreams and your dreams will be achieved as well. Or maybe it was, "If you want to achieve your dreams, help others achieve theirs". You get the idea.
7. Learn about the people you wish to do business with, and the acceptance of this friendship will return dividends to you because people like to refer people the trust and like (Bob Burg).
8. Remember birthdays and take a moment to wish random "Perfect days" to those you have lost touch with.
9. Meet for a one on one or a phone call when the rapport dictates you would be welcome and trusted to contribute to them. The rest really takes place rather naturally.
10. Dont worry about stats, effort, or those that dont reciprocate... dont keep count, just have fun helping others and that will be fun by itself.
FYI - I invite about 20 people a day to PerfectNetworker.com of which only about 2 join... is it worth it? For the relationship and contribution I just made to those 2 people - ABSOLUTELY! And for the amount of people I am doing business with on this site, I really dont need to go anywhere else for business ... or business needs.

We have recently changed the name to PerfectNetworker of THE day, since they are synonomous for contributing to others success. Here are some criteria we find important upon selection.
1. That you have a photo. Who can connect with a ghost? Although a logo is better than no photo, but we have only chosen 1 logo out of 40 PerfectNetworkers and that was only because his logo stated his cause for Earth Conservation. Let me know if you need help uploading your photo.
2. That you have been recommended by someone as a contributor to others success.
3. Expand the section "About me". To feature someone with little content, does not really give us or the reader an idea of what makes you so worthy of this honor.
4. That you are at least active enough on the site that you have some connections and your last sign in date is less than 1 week from the current date.
5. It would be nice if your ranking is not N/A (meaning you have not referred anyone to the site), but this is not a requirement.
6. Some sense of consistency, typically more than a month of noticing you are not just a "Go-Giver of THE Day", but a "Go-Giver" who is being recognized one day.
7. With that said, there is no limit to how many times you are featured. Continue to be a "Go-Giver" and continue to be recognized.
8. Please post your email address so I can send you a notification, otherwise I have to go through websites, to find an email address.
9. Post articles, blogs, polls, etc.

"Why is everyone always pickin on me?" or "Why are people trying to connect with me?" or "Why are people trying to learn about me and trying to do business with me?"
Have you ever considered that everyone of your friends was once a stranger?... and that everyone of your clients were unknown to you until they were introduced to you?...
Im sure you wouldnt watch your phone ring at work without answering it, or not be tempted to open a letter from a friend wishing to do business with you... or watch a fax transmission come through and fall into the trash can without checking out the contents.
Some people new to social networking may think it is ... well a waste of time. I assure you when it is done right, it is very rewarding, very efficient, and the Perfect way to meet people. In fact how else could you meet people that dont live in your geographic area so effortlessly? When you create that relationship focusing on contribution, they too will want to learn from you and help refer business to you.
If you are trying to connect with someone and they dont know how to add you as a connection. Let them know they can go to "Connections", click on "Connection Requests" and approve away. Thank the person for trying to connect with you... after all they are interested in knowing you better.
Believe it or not, many sites penalize you for trying to meet strangers. We value relationship marketing and encourage you to reach out to other professionals to develop a business relationship.
Let them know "You have several people trying to connect with you... and I am one of them."
Inactive people in our community, are possibly unaware of the opportunities that are available.
Please visit the site and respond to people who wish to learn more about you and your business. And while you are at it, say "Hi" to someone like the Go-Giver of the day.
I am doing business almost daily with PerfectNetworkers, you can too!

According to our community, it is a pleasant difference, but I really wouldnt want to indicate that it was a choice as much as perhaps a preference. For me, choosing between LI and PN is like choosing between a screwdriver and a hammer. I wont go into which is the screwdriver, but rather that they are both tools and you really should have both in your networking toolbox.
Linkedin is gigantic and resourceful. I am on LI, and although I dont find the experience terribly welcoming, I must give props to this site for connecting me with thousands of high quality networkers. LI has amazing features and it is a great place to reconnect as well. LI has group limitations, and connection limitations, and from my experience they do not respond to customer feedback or requests in a timely manner. I certainly have never been acknowledged for the over 5000 networkers I invited to LI... instead my account was repeatedly restricted for ... trying to network with ... (are you ready for this?) a person I wanted to do business with, but unfortunately didnt know at the time of my invitation request. How absurd it was for me to think of networking on a "recruiting" site.
PerfectNetworker based on the feedback we receive daily, a very cozy site with a high quality small community. The customer service and attention you receive here seems to be at an extraordinary level based again on the many compliments we receive. Our Referral University and educational component on PN is really user friendly. We encourage people to contribute articles, blogs, and information on how to be more successful in creating business relationships, getting the most out of social networking and being a Go-Giver. We feature networkers who make a difference in the community.
Soon we will be the only social networking site that has a face-to-face component to the online experience. Chuck Z will be an integral part of this being a success. PerfectNetworker Face-to-Face will take the online (virtual) relationship marketing and bring it to life.
PN has no limitations. You can join as many groups as you want. You can message people regardless of being connected. There is a more personal approach to the profile and I find having more contact information available makes it easier to connect and do business with people I want to work with.
As the site grows, I believe that the sophistication of LI will be more available here, without losing the human spirit we care so much about keeping.
We are looking for the top networkers in the world, so real business and conversations can happen. When you read the profiles of the networkers on this site, you see we are not after a body count, but really looking for the PerfectNetworker.

"It is Always Your Next Move", "The Ball is in Your Court"... One of my favorite philosophies is that "I am responsible ..." you can fill in the blank after that. When I want to create a relationship, "I am responsible" for the quality of that relationship. When I want to connect with someone, "I am responsible" for creating that connection. So when someone does not respond to my connection request, I email them directly. When they dont respond to that, or they dont have an email address, I visit their website and email or message them there. And if I have to resort to a friendly phone call, I do that too.
Does it make a difference? You tell me. When someone whose persistence to connect with you professionally, (and) for networking reasons, gives three attempts, wouldnt you take notice of this person/networker? Of course, your reason to connect must be genuine, and you really should have something to offer the person you are trying to connect with, whether it be a lead, business or knowledge. I have accepted to date on this site at least a couple dozen calls from "Go-Givers". Just networkers, who want to learn more about my business, and want to grow together. Certainly a call anyone would welcome, if they want to cultivate business.
My recommendation is to go into your connections requests and pick 2 or 3 a day that you email directly, or visit their website and leave a message that you are trying to connect. It doesnt take long and it really shows that this community is about creating business / referral relationships.
The difference this makes is that a section of our community that may feel ignored or becomes dormant is awakened with opportunity.
So Make Some Noise and look up networkers on the site in your state or country that have not connected with you, and throw the ball in their court with a friendly message to connect. If you invited someone that hasnt set up a photo or been back to the site, let them know they have "Connection Requests" awaiting them. I know they do since this community is very active in connecting.
I dont think Chevy Chase was referring to this when he said "Be The Ball" in "Caddyshack". But I really couldnt resist using that quote. So I now place the ball in your court to reach out to those who have low to no connections, those that could use a boost in feeling a part of this community.
"One Connection a Day Keeps the Debt Away" Ken

I find it interesting that we underestimate the power of one. This is why I never underestimate anyone. PerfectNetworker is being considered by many to be special in that the members are very professional and high caliber. They better understand relationship marketing and follow the philosophy of "The Go-Giver" and "Pay It Forward".
I would like the focus of our community to connect. If you are trying to connect with someone on the site and they have not responded, please copy / paste their email address and write them directly. Let them know that you are desiring a connection. My belief is that although the members on this site are quality networkers, not everyone is aware of the growth this community is experiencing. Think of the person who only joined 2 months ago... the community was literally 1/10th as large as it is now. How would they know so many people are awaiting connection if they do not have the box on their profile checked for letting them know people are trying to connect. If you invited someone and they are unaware, inactive please give them some encouragement to revisit the site. I find the networkers on the site that are active are creating real relationships where either direct or indirect connections are occurring. If you see a profile without a photo, see if they need help, perhaps their photo file is too large. I personally can help them reduce the file size if they send me their photo.
"The Power of One" a great movie that came out in 1992 with Morgan Freeman, Stephen Dorff and John Gielgud has always been a powerful inspiration of what anyone of us can do to make the world better. For this community to enjoy the benefits or rich relationships and quality referrals, we must be pro-active in order to experience what we put out in the universe.
The Chinese Taoism "Wu Wei" certainly correlates to this message. "The aim of wu wei is to achieve a state of perfect equilibrium, or alignment with the Tao, and, as a result, obtain an irresistible form of soft and invisible power". Feel free to contact him for more wisdom here and with Guerrilla Marketing. This message moved me (as did the film and the following quote) to address what we are capable of individually and as a community.
"Be the change that you want to see in the world." - Mohandas Gandhi One contribution to help one person in the community helps thousands each day if we are all doing this for the greater experience we wish to have on this site. One connection a day = 365 seeds towards 365 relationships a year. One profile read in 5 minutes each day with something kind to them will make one persons day! Be the Power of One!

So next time you see a unsolicited "spam" communication, smile while you hit delete and have a Perfect day.
Spammers dont kill people, people kill people... wait that is another campaign... however we sure do act like they do. Ive never understood why people get so annoyed about spammers. I certainly understand that they are very annoying, but I am not going to let them one or two spammers have the power of who I will communicate with and who I wont. And I certainly will not let them have the power to change my mood from Perfectly happy to a mood of gloom and doom.
Here is the cost of hiding from spammers - You hide from the world, the people who are your next friends and clients in business. That cost is too great for me, so I put myself out there. Check out my profile - all vitals are there, birthday, cell phone, email, etc. There is a way to get to know me and contact me here at Perfect Networker and all the other social sites I belong to.
Really it is like refusing to drive your car because a spammer might be on the road, or that a spammer will attach your windshield with a business card or flier while you park your car at a concert or grocery store in hopes of developing a quality relationship.
I can safely say that about 50% of network would not exist if I did not play full out with sharing my cell phone, email and address. I can appreciate that women have valid concerns about privacy since stalking goes far beyond spamming... so ommitting your home address, home phone and home email would be prudent. As an alternative, create an email address that is used only for social networking. Have a cell phone with an our of state area code could create the privacy and security so that you feel comfortable.
We fortunately have a community of communicators on PN, but there will always be a bad apple or two in every bunch. Dont punish yourself from getting to know 98% of the community because of a couple of spammers that may not even know better.
We are here to learn together. My attempts to teach a spammer in this community that their strategy is pushing people away instead of attracting business, has proven to be rather effective. I dont pretend to know all the answers or think I can help everyone, but if you give everyone a chance, I have found I am typically pleasantly surprised.
I actually get joy out of receiving spam because I feel so much more productive when I group all the emails together and trash them all at once. A real sense of accomplishment! How about this marketing trick - hit reply and push your product or service on him or her. Who knows they may need your service.
Thank you Joyce (Nelson) for your help with the editing and your suggestions. I like the blog much more now.

Photos speak volumes and send an instant message to the person surfing profiles that you stand out and that you are a person they can relate to... or not.
It surprises me when all you really have are a few seconds to be noticed and some would not take advantage of posting a photo over a grey silhouette image (or "No Image Available") that looks identical to the other 35% of the non-photod networkers. Do yourself a favor and stand out. The only time you stand out without a photo is when everyone else has one. Do yourself another favor... keep your clothes on. The amount of people showing off their bodies in the social networking arena intentinoally or not are typically difficult to take serious with regard to business.
Say "Cheese" - yup a smile attracts communication. So if you see 100 profiles on a screen and 60 of them had photos, the other 40 disappear immediately from the attention of the surfer. Next of the 60, the surfer typically is looking for professionalism, attractiveness (as dictated typically by society for male and female potential contacts), and a sense of personality and friendliness.Ive heard figures as high as 40 times more attention is spent on profiles with photos than without.
So if you dont have a photo, make it a priority in social networking or you really are choosing to be a ghost.

In order to truly connect with someone, you must detach yourself from what you want and be completely in the space of either contribution or love.
I find the enrollment conversation to be the most powerful conversation one can experience. It is a conversation of having someone do something they would not have otherwise decided to do, but through listening to what they will gain through your ability to have them experince the benefits they accept what you have contributed to them. This requires you to remove what you will gain by them accepting the invitation and just being in a space of pure contribution.
One can only experience a high acceptance of this type of conversation when the person being enrolled is not pressured nor made to feel guilty if they reject your offer or invitation to contribute to them.
I am fascinated that in the end if you have allowed the person you are inviting to be right regardless of their action, that they may later want to accept because the pureness of the invitation is finally realized. This is why you should only invite people to Perfect Networker in a personal conversation or personalized email. They get that you are contributing to them when you are enrolling them into an opportunity.
When you have accomplished having an effective enrollment conversation, you truly have the power to shape the community and the world to be better.
